GRANT APPLICATIONS

You are welcome to apply for a grant using the form below. We meet on a regular basis to discuss grants and our response should come within two months. There may be a longer period at the end of our financial year in March.

Please bear the following criteria in mind.

  1. Our charity’s objectives focus on supporting literacy and your application should have a clear relationship to this.
  2. We will only give to organisations with a dedicated bank account. We will not give to individuals.
  3. If you are an established charity we will need your charity number.
  4. You can apply for grants for adult or children’s literacy initiatives

We typically award grants of between £300 to £700. But larger grants may be offered in exceptional circumstances.

For example, grants can be awarded for the general maintenance of an existing literacy initiative (e.g. topping up a school library or resourcing an adult literacy programme) or for one-off projects (e.g. a story telling programme, or buying in a collection of books for a school project) or for seeding a new project.

If you wish to apply then please complete this application form and return it to bookreliefuk@gmail.com with the subject as ‘grant application’.

On receipt of your application we may ask for further information before making a final decision. This could include financial information and/or a visit to premises being managed by you. We may ask for proof of expenditure.

If we decide not to award a grant we will write with our reasoning. Refusal does not preclude further applications at a later date.
